Over five generations, since the 1890s, the Jamieson family has been working with Shetland wool. The company was founded by Robert Jamieson in Sandness, on the west coast of the Shetland Isles. 

In 1981, Bertie Jamieson, Robert’s grandson, pursued the desire to produce 100% Shetland yarn.  His desire to do so rings us today to multiple 100% Shetland wool yarn lines with well over 200 color lines.  Jamieson's of Shetland produced lines that are true fiber artists' staples such as Spindrift, Double Knitting, Ultra Lace Weight, Heather Aran and Marl Chunky.
